biography
Sarah is an Independently Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Special Educator with expertise in behavioral medicine, specializing in work with children and adolescents, couples and families, and those with substance abuse issues. Sarah draws on methodology used in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Psychodynamic Theory. She also has knowledge of Exposure Response Prevention for the treatment of anxiety disorders, and General Psychiatric Management for the treatment of personality disorders.
Sarah received her BA in Music from Brown University and then went on to get her M.Ed. in Special Education at Pace University. She taught special education and music for five years in NYC before returning to school for her Masters of Social Work, which she completed at Boston University, along with a certificate in Behavioral Medicine. Sarah trained at New England Academy and McLean Hospital's inpatient child/adolescent unit. She then went on to work at McLean's adult inpatient detoxification unit before transitioning to the Adolescent Acute Residential Treatment unit (ART) at McLean Hospital. She currently works at Boston Arts Academy and in private practice.
During Sarah's graduate program, she did research on Autistm Spectrum Disorders at Boston University Disability Services and has published in Pediatric Neuropsychology: Medical Advances and Lifespan Outcomes (2013) as well as Adolescents and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (2014). Sarah currently holds a full time position at Boston Arts Academy and a part-time position at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. She has a private practice in Boston, MA. She holds licenses to teach both special education and music in MA and NY, in addition to being a licensed school adjustment counselor in MA.
